Meet our RFID Engineer Ryan McCracken

We are excited to introduce you to Times-7’s RFID Engineer Ryan McCraken. Ryan joined the Times-7 team in December of 2020, having completed a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Honours we are excited to have his skills and expertise helping us with the advancement of RFID technology. Ryan has a strong background in engineering having completed a summer engineering internship with the Port of Tauranga and contract work for PCB design.

As an RFID Engineer at Times-7 Ryan works closely alongside Senior RF Engineer Prabakar Parthiban utilising their skills and experience to further advance and develop our antenna product portfolio. Ryan’s role involves researching and testing our products to ensure we are always up to date with the latest understanding in RFID and RF technology.

Furthermore, working alongside Times-7 Senior RF Engineer Prabakar Parthiban Ryan has been heavily involved in publishing a highly reputable IEEE paper which you can read more about here.

Ryan is thriving at Times-7 gaining further experience and knowledge in a wide variety of areas. He is incredibly quick to learn and in only six months he will be ready to sit the RFID certification exam. Ryan says what he enjoys most about his role at Times-7 is, “the flexibility to learn about so many different things from antenna design, the limitations of RFID, to 3D printing. As well as tieing this knowledge together to create test setups and jigs”.

Ryan grew up in Karapiro which is a settlement and rural area in the Waipa District and Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. Karapiro includes both the artificially created Lake Karapiro and the accompanying Karapiro Power Station. Ryan’s favourite food is homemade Carnitas – a Mexican dish (a bit like tacos!)

Times-7 is proud to have Ryan as a part of our team, we are excited to see him apply his skills to advance our state-of-the-art antennas and develop his knowledge in his role at Times-7.
